Most of our work is in Galway City and County Galway, but a good share of our window and door projects now come from further along the N6 corridor: Athlone, Roscommon town and Ballinasloe. Homeowners in these towns often start the same way as our Galway clients — an old timber or early uPVC window that has started to let in draughts, or a front door that no longer locks smoothly — and end up asking whether a Galway-based installer is worth the extra travel. In practice, the distance is rarely the issue; the specification and the fitting are.
Why homeowners in Athlone and Roscommon contact a Galway installer
Ballinasloe sits close enough to Galway that it is effectively part of our regular working area, and both Athlone and Roscommon town are a manageable drive from our Ballybane workshop. For a full house of windows or a composite front door, one site visit and one installation day (or two, depending on scope) is a small part of the overall project. What matters more to most clients is getting a straight answer on uPVC versus aluminium, a realistic timeline, and a fitter who will still take a call if something needs adjusting after the job is finished.
What tends to matter most for this area
Homes around Athlone and Roscommon are a mix of older midlands farmhouses, 1990s–2000s estate builds and newer developments. The older stock often has larger, non-standard openings where an accurate survey matters more than the brochure U-value. Estate-built homes from the 2000s frequently have the original builder-grade windows, which are usually the first thing worth upgrading if the goal is to cut heating costs — these were rarely specified with airtightness in mind. In Ballinasloe, we see a similar pattern to east Galway generally: a lot of interest in composite front doors as a standalone upgrade, done ahead of a full window replacement, because it has an immediate effect on kerb appeal and security.
uPVC and aluminium options
For most of these projects we specify uPVC windows using Aluplast profiles (IDEAL 4000, 7000 or 8000, depending on budget and target U-value) — a practical, low-maintenance choice for family homes. Where clients want slimmer sightlines or are finishing an extension, we quote Ponzio aluminium systems instead. Composite doors from the Mikea and Palladio ranges cover most front door requests, with a wide choice of colours and glazing styles.
Planning a project from Athlone, Roscommon or Ballinasloe
Because the site visit involves more travel than a job in Galway City, it helps to have rough measurements, photos and a sense of scope (a few windows versus a full house) ready before the first call. We will still confirm everything with a proper survey before finalising a quote, but a clear starting brief lets us plan the visit and the installation date more efficiently for both sides.
If you are in Athlone, Roscommon or Ballinasloe and comparing quotes for window replacement or a new composite door, get in touch or request a quote with your address and a short description of the project.
